February 26 2012 and February 27 2012

On Saturday we went to Golden Acre Park and it was very cold and windy. And I ate:

porridge

two slices of toast and marmalade

carrot and coriander soup and a bread roll

a scone with butter

bagel with Cambozola and coleslaw and Florida salad and a few small tomatoes

rhubarb and custard

Verdict: Could have had more fruit and veg

Today - Sunday - I went swimming and we had tea at Casa Mia in Chapel Allerton

And I ate:

porridge

a bagel with peanut butter

a hot cross bun

a pancake with lemon juice and Canderel

a raw carrot

pizza with anchovies, olives and capers (Napoli)

tiramisu with cream

Verdict: NOT good!

Friday 24th Feb 2012

In Sheffield all day doing GP recruitment at the end of a very busy but enjoyable week.

And I ate:

Shredded Wheat

an Alpen bar

a small croissant

two apples and some apple juice

carrot salad with nuts, falafel, green salad, three small bread rolls

half a ring doughnut

a bowl of Special K red berries (didn't have a proper tea as I'd kept grazing during the day).

Verdict: Not too good - - but a very long day so could be worse!

Thursday 23 February - at Leeds Uni

Today I woke up at 4.30am worrying. Sighhh.

And I ate:

porridge

a banana

tuna, sweetcorn and lettuce sandwich

packet of prawn cocktail crisps

an apple

individual chicken pie with green beans and sweetcorn

fat-free yogurt

Verdict: not brilliant, but could have been worse!

fat-free raspberry and cranberry yogurt

two crumpets with jam

At L'Orinaise for David's birthday meal:

hummus, falafel, green salad, bit of couscous, pitta bread

apple pie and custard

an orange

Verdict: Not bad except for the apple pie!

At the GP Recruitment

Today I ate:

porridge

a cereal bar - nutrigrain

two apples and some apple juice

green salad, nut and carrot salad, some prawns in batter, a couple of pieces of baguette

a chocolate eclair and a bit of lemon cake

two crumpets

a bowl of Special K red berries

and I'm very VERY tired!

Verdict - - ohhhh could be worse, it was SUCH a long day! But good though!

Feb 20th - - dreadful food!

I ended up in Bradford in the rush hour with low blood sugar - - ohhhh not good at all!

So I ate:

porridge

peanut butter sandwich

two custard creams

Big Mac with regular fries and orange juice

an orange

Verdict: well it has to be the worst day's food in a LONG while! But it could have been worse I suppose.

Sunday 19 Feb - swimming and Alee's birthday

I went swimming this morning - did 70 lengths and enjoyed it.

And I ate:

porridge

banana

French self-bake baguette with butter

plain yogurt

Roast chicken with sprouts, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds, sweetcorn

Tinned fruit cocktail with evap milk

Verdict: a bit lacking in fruit and veg but not too bad.

I felt really tired for most of today, though we did make a start clearing Stephen's workroom.

two crumpets with sugar-free jam

Tesco's Lasagne with peas

Diabetic ice-cream

an orange

Verdict: not too bad, could be better, less fruit and veg than usual.

Today I went to York to meet a plumber who didn't arrive and I came back again. Sighhh.

And I ate:

a bowl of Shreddies

two hot cross buns

a banana

chicken and sweetcorn soup (Chinese takeaway)

four veggie spring rolls with a bit of sweet and sour sauce

Bamboo shoots and water chestnuts

Corner yogurt

two mandarin oranges

Verdict: Really not very good at all, but could be worse I suppose! And I've had a stressful time. Sighh.

and I may have an orange before I go to bed!

Verdict - not too bad, plenty of fruit and veg.

Verdict: plenty of fruit and veg but rather too much fat - - again!!

one round roll with meat paste (two halves) and radish on top

Chicken pie and sweetcorn and sprouts

Tinned fruit and evaporated milk

Three squares of chocolate

An orange

Verdict: a bit high in fat but not too bad.

I went swimming today so didn't have my Gliclazide, and slept a lot to catch up on a lot of missed sleep recently.

Carvery lunch: turkey, roast and mashed potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, swede, parsnip.

bowl of Kelloggs Special K red berries

Verdict: not bad, and plenty of fruit and veg - - just about 8 portions!

Well I started the day fairly relaxed (for me) but then ended it very stressed sighh.

Spag Bol with tinned tomatoes, fresh mushrooms and onion in it, with peas and pasta

a corner yogurt

some lychees

Verdict - - well, eight fruit and veg, anyway!
